Ukraine Response

The SWO Gleaners was able to send 14 skids (over 500,000 servings) of dried soup mix to Ukraine and Poland in March. Partnering with Loads of Love Humanitarian and Aid Agency, we were able to send out product in response to the crisis in that area. We pray for a peaceful end to the war and stand by the people of Ukraine who are going through this terrible time. More shipments will hopefully go out soon again.

Volunteer relief work for Ukraine

Covid-19 Update

We are grateful that restrictions and mandates are lifting across our area. Providing a safe working environment is our top priority. The past two years have affected everyone and we are happy to be slowly getting back to a more “normal” capacity. In March, we lifted our vaccine mandate and welcomed many new and returning volunteers.

We encourage past and future volunteers to come and join us! We feel fortunate that our facility has stayed COVID-free and we continue to maintain a safe work environment. Thank you, volunteers!

Potatoes from Prince Edward Island

Approximately 180,000lbs of fresh PEI potatoes have been delivered to the SWO Gleaners over the past couple of months. Through Food Bank Canada and the Government of Canada, we received this product as a result of the potato wart fungus that stopped exports to the USA. The government has given grants to ship some of this product to food banks and other charitable organizations across the country. The food is safe and the quality has been great. These potatoes have made our overall production rise as a result.

So far in 2022, we have donated over 1 million servings of dried, vegetable soup mix and apple snacks to local food banks and international aid agencies.

Volunteer Profile

Roger has been volunteering at the SWO Gleaners for over 3 years now. Along with his support worker, Roger enjoys helping where he can.  He especially enjoys going along for deliveries and pickups in our truck. He brings a contagious energy and happiness to the shifts he works. Roger is quick to spot the largest or weirdest-looking produce. Over the past two years, Roger has volunteered over 100 days/year with us.

Thank you Roger for your hard work!
