In early February, Tina Quiring (Chair, Director) and Vern Toews (Fundraising Chair) were delighted to receive a generous donation of $4,000.00 from the Leamington Branch of the Kindred Credit Union on behalf of the Southwestern Ontario Gleaners.
These funds will be directed toward the costs needed to purchase a high-quality food sanitation washing machine.
In 2017, thanks to our generous local food growers, we were able to produce vegetable and snack mixes equivalent to 3 million servings. Maintaining a food processing production of this size amounts to a lot of dicing and cleaning of food, which is why the food washing machine is needed.
We approached the Kindred Credit Union with our proposal entitled, “Washing Away Hunger One Bowl At A Time” to let them know of our need to raise funds to acquire the food washing machine.
The Kindred Credit Union has a strong interest in the work we are doing here at the Southwestern Ontario Gleaners and were happy to provide us with this donation from their community endowment fund.
All of us at the Southwestern Ontario Gleaners are grateful for their generous support.
